Hey guys, we all know that habits have a huge contribution to our success. So it’s no wonder that successful people have some habits which lead them to success. That’s why today I am here with 7 habits that might make you successful.
1. Be Proactive.
If you divide people across the world on the basis of how they react, you will get two types: Reactive and Proactive. Before knowing these first let’s understand what the 90/10 principle is?
This principle says we have no control over 10% events that happen with us and 90% events are reactions to those 10% events.
Reactive people are those who overreact to those 10% unexpected events.
Reactive people love the blame game. They think they are good and the problems they are facing are for others. They think their lifestyle isn’t good because of the government sucks, they are not rich because their boss sucks, etc.
When they don’t find someone to blame they start blaming their destiny.
On the other hand, proactive people are those who try to understand the situation and try to find a solution instead of overreacting.
Proactive people always take responsibility for what they do. They never blame, instead, they try to fix the situation.
2. Begin with the end in mind.
Before doing any work ask yourself, why are you doing it? If you don’t have why don’t you do it? While you have a way which means the end result. Make a plan that will take you there. In the process ask yourself, will you get the end result if you go this way?
If the answer is yes you don’t need any change, if it’s no you need to change your plan.
3. Put first thing first.
Effective people are very sensitive about their time. So they always put first things first to avoid time waste.
4. Think Win-Win.
So in a game, there can be two situations, you’ll either win or lose. But since life is not a game you can make a win-win situation. That’s why while doing a deal effective people always think about both sides, not just themselves.
5. Seek first to understand then to be understood
While in a conversation be a good listener. First, listen to what the opposite person is trying to say and understand their point then make your point.
For those who don’t know what Synergize means here in the definition:
- combine or coordinate the activity of (two or more agents) to produce a joint effect greater than the sum of their separate effects.
In short, it means working as a team to get greater effects. So to be more effective you need to get a team and divide the work among all.
7. Sharpen the saw.
Sharpen the saw here means planning. Which is very important for a good outcome. Abraham Lincoln once said,
“Give me six hours to chop and I will spend the
first four sharpening the axe”
Which in simple words if you give him six hours for work he would take four hours for just planning.
But you should remember never plan too far. Only plan your next step.
